Folk Music Mailing Lists

Some of the best goodies seem to be on the moderated list server discussion groups. To join a list server discussion group, you need to send E-mail to subscribe to it. Be forewarned, the E-mail you will receive in return from some of these groups may be lengthy, but because you recieve it as mail you can do your reading offline! Most can be subscribed to as digests or individual pieces of mail. It's a good idea to save subscription confirmation messages and the "welcome messages" from the list owners that you will occasionally receive after subscribing to a new list, they contain valuable instructions that you may want down the road.

There is also a general list of music mailing lists available that you might want to check for folk-specific lists.

If you have trouble with any listservers try sending the message HELP to the server to obtain a list of commands and instructions.
