Yuuguu is a new application for desktop sharing. Even though it is still beta software it works really well. It allows 2 people to see each other’s desktops (or just one as in a help desk situation), text chat, and most impressively allows both users to share control of the computers. Control sharing was somewhat slow but adequate for my purposes.

I think a unique feature of this product is that it is cross platform. It will work on both Macs and PCs. In their business model section they say that basic functionality (presumably what I described above) will always remain free.

My only complaint is that on PCs (I didn’t test it on a Mac) the popup for giving permission is in the lower right corner and constantly gets covered by the task bar when you move the mouse down to the bottom of the screen. It wouldn’t be a problem except there is a limited time to accept before the request expires so you feel pressure to get the task bar down in time to click on the button.
